Taoiseach says local partnership resulted in new CF unit in city
The Taoiseach has commended the level of local collaboration which has led to the opening of a paediatric cystic fibrosis unit at UHG.
Enda Kenny officiated at the opening of the state-of-the-art facility this afternoon.
It was built for 590 thousand euro, with 250 thousand euro of this coming from the Cystic Fibrosis Association.
The unit includes four examination rooms, a treatment room and a gym for physiotherapy and will accept patients from September.
31 year old Bríd Ní Niadh from Rosmuc was diagnosed with CF when she was six months old .
She told Galway Bay fm news that the new unit will prevent the risk of cross infection prevalent in the former open clinic system.
