TANAISTE COMMENDS GROWTH OF GALWAY LIFE SCIENCE SECTOR

Galway is playing a leading role in the growth of the life sciences sector in Ireland.
That’s according to Tanaiste Eamon Gilmore who was speaking at the opening of the new European Headquarters of city pharmaceutical and medical device firm Delcath systems.
The US firm which has it’s main base in Manhatten set up in Mervue Industrial Estate last year.
It has developed a device used in a new therapeutic approach to treat patients with liver cancer.
Training agreements have now been established with nine leading cancer treatment centres across Europe.
It currently employs a team of 10 team and further expansion is planned for its Galway base.
