Galway Gardaí are warning people to be cautious when buying phones over the internet.

They say that many phones, particularly i-phones are being advertised by private sellers online and are counterfeit.

Unsuspecting customers hand over cash for the phones and later discover they don’t work, although they appear to look like the real thing.

Galway Gardaí are urging people to only buy phones from authorised shops.
