The first cases of swine flu in the West of Ireland have been confirmed by the Department of Health.

Two of the 3 latest cases are in the West.

They involve a man and a boy, both of whom recently returned from New York.

The third case involves a woman from the East who also recently returned from New York.

All three are currently being treated at home and all necessary public health protection measures are being taken.

The Department of Health says the new cases are not connected with the previous four cases in Ireland.
