Laser Swimming Club, which is celebrating 20 years in existence this year, held its annual awards ceremony in Leisureland recently.

The club achieved Connacht Swimming Club of the Year in 2012 and backed this up with being awarded the prestigious Swim Ireland quality mark – ClubMark SI in recognition for its high administration standards and pursuit of best practice in delivery of its swimming programmes. The club was also honoured to have one of its members, Tony Farrell, hold Presidency of Swim Ireland.

Club chairperson Amanda Dempsey paid tribute at the awards ceremony to the club’s swimmers for their commitment and discipline throughout the year; while coaches Celine O’Loan and Joanne O’Shaughnessy talked through the club achievements and spoke in glowing terms of the fine young swimmers involved with the club.

Each athlete was presented with a club certificate outlining their achievements throughout the year including their personal best times in the main swimming strokes. There were special awards for attendances, most improved swimmer, special achievements and swimmer of the year.
