SUSPENDED SENTENCE FOR NEWCASTLE STABBING

A city man, who stabbed his housemate with a kitchen knife, has been given a suspended sentence.
Richard Donnelly, formerly of 7 Snipe Lawn, Newcastle spent a year in the Central Mental Hospital after the attack.
30-year-old Donnelly has been found guilty of stabbing Vance Deasy with a kitchen knife at 7 Snipe Lawn, Newcastle on May 10th 2009.
His psychiatrist Dr Elizabeth Walsh told the court that he suffers from paranoid schizophrenia and refuses to accept his condition.
Judge Mary Fahy then handed down a 12-month prison sentence which she suspended for two years subject to strict conditions.
