Suspects in Galway burglaries arrested near Dublin

Five people suspected of being involved in burglaries in Galway City and County in the past two weeks have been arrested North of Dublin and are currently being questioned at four Garda stations in Galway.

Two of the suspects are being held at Galway Garda Station, one each in Gort, Loughrea and Tuam Garda stations.

Gardai from Galway, assisted by a number of national units, Organised Crime Unit and Emergency Response Unit, arrested the four men and one woman last evening (Saturday 12th April).

It is understood that a quantity of power tools and other items were seizied by the Gardai during the arrests.

The four men, (aged 25 -30 years) and the one woman (mid 20s) were arrested in the Balbriggan area. They are all being detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at the Galway Garda stations.

In recent weeks major robberies have taken place at a number of premises in Galway including Caulfields on the Tuam Road in the city, Roco, Mountbellew, Daybreak Early and Late Shop, Knockdoe, Claregalway, Duane’s near Athenry and several other business premises and at some private properties around the city and county.
