SURVEY SHOWS HIGH NUMBER OF PUBLIC DONATIONS TO GALWAY HOSPITALS

There has been a high number of public donations to hospitals in Galway according to new figures published today.

University Hospital Galway raised over 680,000 euro in public donations between 2003 and 2007 while Merlin Park raised over 128,000 and Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe raised nearly 150,000 euro.

Monies received are usually the proceeds of charity events and relatives donations.

Farmers Journal Health Correspondent Margaret Hawkins says the money is being put to good use.
