Superb Galway teach the Dubs a lesson

A SUBLIME second quarter performance in which they found the net three times ensured an extremely comfortable and hugely satisfying victory for the Galway footballers, who extended their unbeaten start to 2009 against an outclassed Dublin side in this Allianz NFL Division One clash at Pearse Stadium on Sunday.

After a shaky start, in which they might have conceded two goals in the space of the opening six minutes, the Tribesmen completely dominated this one-sided tie to make it two wins from two outings in the League and bring an end to a damning sequence which had seen the men in maroon go 29 years without a win of any sort against the Dubs.

So complete was their dominance that the game was virtually wrapped-up by half-time, when Galway led by 3-7 to 0-5, and the home side could even afford the luxury of going 20 minutes without a score with no fears that the points would be relinquished in the second period.
