SUICIDE PREVENTION TRAINING FOR BALLINASLOE
Date Published: 04-Nov-2011
Suicide intervention training is vital for Galway caregivers.
That’s the view of County Councillor Peter Roche who says training helps us to see, hear and respond to the risk of suicide.
ASIST is a two day interactive workshop for healthworkers, teachers, Gardaí and youth workers as well as family, friends and co-workers.
It’s taking place in Ballinasloe on Tuesday and Wednesday week the 15th and 16th has already been done in Loughrea and Clifden.
More training courses, which are carried out by the HSE, will also take place in Galway city early next year.
Cllr Roche, who lost his son Colin to suicide, says such programmes are vital in our communities.
