Third level students will intensify their opposition to registration fee hikes with a planned protest march in Galway next week. (Nov.18)

Over one thousand students from the Galway Mayo Institute of Technology and NUI Galway are expected to take to the city streets with banners and placards next Thursday.

Students will march from NUI Galway and GMIT and link up at the Spanish Arch where a number of student representatives will give speeches.

The Galway protest is part of a series of student marches taking place across the country.

Over 25 thousand students, including students from Galway, took part in a protest against university fees in Dublin recently.

GMIT student Union president Colin Canney says an increase in registration fees would hit low income families hard
