Stroke shaken as Trump goes for the jugular

A dog named Trump attacked Independent Councillor Michael ‘Stroke’ Fahy making a beeline for his throat during a visit to a constituent.

The Ardrahan public representative raised the issue at this month’s Loughrea Municipal District meeting demanding to know what could be done about rogue dogs and their owners.

His queries also came several days after Moycullen woman Teresa McDonagh (64) was attacked and killed by two bull mastiffs.

Cllr Fahy said three weeks ago he had parked his car outside a house and was inside the house owner’s property when a dog jumped him from behind.

“He was a cross between an Alsatian and a hound and he was ready to jump for my throat. The dog’s name was Trump. He stopped immediately when called.”

Director of Services of Water, Environment and Emergency Services in Galway County Council Jim Cullen said the law in this regard is very clear. A dog is meant to be under the control of the dog owner at all times.
