Strike action across the Bon Secours Private Hospital Group, including the Galway city hospital, has been called off.

It follows a breakthrough in late night talks at the Labour Relations Commission.

Hundreds of nurses and administrative staff were due to walk off the job on Monday in hospitals around the country, including Renmore, in protest over pay cuts.

Management has now agreed to suspend the cuts and enter negotiations with unions next week on an alternative cost cutting plan.
