Strategic collaboration link between GMIT and SCCUL Enterprises
SCCUL Enterprises Ltd and Galway Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, an agreement to develop strategic collaboration.
Similarities in the missions and goals of the two organisations have created opportunities to advance the regional, community and enterprise related objectives of each through joint projects and initiatives.
Options include projects related to enterprise development, graduate employment, regional development and community related projects. Simple practical initiatives such as industry events, field trips, work placements and graduate internships are of immediate benefit to students.
GMIT and SCCUL already have a long association. Ivan McPhilips, Lecturer in Business, has been a SCCUL board member for many years. Cait Noone, Head of the School of Tourism & Arts, has also been a judge for the SCCUL Enterprise Awards for several years.
Michael Smyth, General Manager of SCCUL Enterprises Ltd, confirmed this week SCCUL Enterprise Ltd will enter a formal partnership with his alma mater to advance the regional, community and enterprise related objectives of each respective organisation through a range of joint projects and initiatives.
Cait Noone, Head of College Tourism and Arts in GMIT, has welcomed the new agreement.
“The Creative Industries sector is incredibly important to the West of Ireland. As GMIT expands our regional engagement remit with creative partners across the West, our new partnership with SCCUL will support this work and assist in realising our goals and allowing for new opportunities to develop and grow.
“The Institute has a long established working partnership with SCCUL. We look forward to new developments and experiences for our students and faculty,” she said.
