Storm Doris winds set to hit Wednesday night
The West coast will be hit by gusts of up to 110km/h overnight on Wednesday as Storm Doris hits.
While Ireland will escape the brunt of Doris – expected to cause widespread disruption in Britain – Met Éireann has issued a wind warning for Connacht which is in place from midnight on Wednesday until 11am Thursday.
“Some severe winds expected later Wednesday night and on Thursday morning, associated with Storm Doris.
“Southwest winds of means speeds 50km/h to 65km/h will develop, giving gusts of 90km/h to 10km/h. Winds will veer northwesterly overnight and will be strongest in coastal counties,” the warning reads.
It may cause some over-topping of the sea in areas like Salthill, as there will be a high tide of 4.2 metres at 3am on Thursday.
