Stop the parties!

LOCAL businesses are calling for action to be taken against late night drinking parties around the Spanish Arch and new Galway Museum plaza, which they say continue to attract hundreds of people at the weekends and are ruining the area.
About twenty businesses from the Spanish Arch, Long Walk and Quay Street area have signed a petition to City Hall and to the Garda Superintendent asking for help to curtail anti-social activities and to provide more lighting as well as public lighting.
Neil McNeilus, a jeweller and cafe owner in Quay Street, said that anti-social behaviour had long been a problem for the area, and more so now because of the large open space in front of the Galway Museum.
