Steven Sharpe in concert with new band Broke Straight Boys
Steven Sharpe and The Broke Straight Boys are back in the Róisín Dubh on Friday, September 12. Steven, who is front man for the Led Zeppelin tribute band No Stairway, has also been challenging traditional gender and sexual roles by performing his own brand of out ‘n’ proud music around Galway for the past two years. Since June he has been entertaining audiences with his backing band The Broke Straight Boys.
Steven’s witty, and soulful style blends music, humour and storytelling, and he draws from an eclectic mix of influences such as R&B, folk, rock, poetry, blues/soul, avant garde artists, and musical theatre.
Last December he released his first live album Hot Mess – Live from the Róisín Dubh and is now about to launch his first studio recorded double A side singles.
The Broke Straight Boys includes the talents of David Shaughnessy from My Fellow Sponges, Shane O’Malley No Stairway and solo Galway folk/blues musician Dylan Murphy.
Support for their September show will come from Dylan Murphy and his own brand of tslap-guitar-happy-folk. Dylan, who is is a regular act on the Galway scene, will be backed by David and Shane.
Tickets are €5 online or €7 at the Door. Tickets are available at www.roisindubh.net, the Ticket Deck at OMG (Zhivago), Shop Street and the venue.
