Galway Bay fm newsroom – Plans are moving forward for a new gaelscoil building in Oranmore.

The Minister for Education and Skills has submitted an application for planning permission for a 2-storey building for Gaelscoil de hÍde.

It’ll comprise 16 classrooms, a general purpose room, library and resource area, special education tuition rooms and a multipurpose room.

The school, which will be located in the village of Oranmore, close to Calasanctius College, will also have 32 car parking spaces outside.

It’ll also have bicycle racks, ballcourts and a junior play area.

Gaelscoil De hÍde is currently operating out of overcrowded temporary accommodation.

Galway West T.D Noel Grealish says it’s a welcome step forward for students and staff.
