Stalemate in Kenny Park as Beagh caught late on

The cut of a million euro for the traffic plan for Seamus Quirke Road in the city has been described as a ‘slash and burn’ policy of public funding cuts.
Galway West TD Michael D Higgins believes the million euro needed for extra lanes and a bus lane on Seamus Quirke Road in Westside can be found in the city council’s budget.
The upgrade works have been planned for years but the city council recently cut the funding needed and shelved the plan.
Deputy Higgins met with City Manager Joe McGrath during a meeting with Oireachtas members in the D‡il this month.
