Stadium to host two concerts

TWO major outdoor concerts are being planned for Pearse Stadium in Salthill this summer, with a total capacity of 60,000 revellers, the Sentinel can exclusively reveal.

The promoters are planning the two gigs between June and September.

However, organisers are remaining tight-lipped on the artists who will headline the concerts,which are expected to provide a massive boost to the local economy.

Aiken Promotions, one of the biggest concert organisers in Ireland, have applied to Galway City Council for an event licence to hold two concerts between Friday, June 13 and Sunday, September 21. A spokesperson for the promoters told the Sentinel yesterday: “A licence application has been made. No act has been confirmed.”

Bernie O’Connor, Chairman of the Galway GAA County Board, and Pearse Stadium Committee member, refused to comment on possible headline acts for the concerts. “We are making a deal with Aiken Promotions and have discussed the possibility of staging two concerts. I have reached……………..
