After a weekend of Galway sporting success on the double, the owner of 2007 Irish Derby greyhound champion has dedicated last
Friday night’s success to the memory of family friend Gary Keaveney, who lost his life in a car accident six weeks ago.
Two days before Galway’s hurlers’ Croke Park triumph in the All-Ireland Under-21 Final against Dublin, PJ Fahy’s dog Tyrur Rhino stormed home in the showpiece greyhound event of the year, netting the owner a cheque for a cool €175,000.
Dunmore man Pat Mullarkey’s Tyrur Laurel — also bred by Fahy — came home in second place.
