Spirit of Voice Festival marks 10 years with special show

The Spirit of Voice festival returns to Galway on December 20 and will celebrate a decade of vocal concerts and workshops with a concert that includes some of Ireland’s finest singing talents.

The Spirit of Voice celebration in the Townhouse Bar will include performers from the world of traditional, folk, sean-nós, spoken word, poetry and hip-hop.

Door open at 8pm when the stage will feature a special Live in Concert show with Castlebar composer, singer, musician and author John Hoban. John is one of Ireland’s most respected musicians, who combines the best of the Irish tradition with an intimate, warm and raw sensibility.  

Also on the bill is Connemara singer and artist Ceara Conway, who will be accompanied by her brother Liam Conway on guitar. Together they will perform a repertoire of Portuguese fado and Irish sean-nós songs.”

Taking part too will be Patrick Carton, a performance poet and storyteller from Horseleap, Co Westmeath. His latest book, Growling at the Gate, celebrates the minor and major mysteries of life with poetry.
