Three Galway courts have been deemed not fit for purpose in a report examining the prioritisation of venues for closure.

According to the Irish Times, the Report of the Court Service Building Committee named An Spidéal, Cill Rónáin and Derrynea.

The report provides an insight into the reasoning behind the prioritisation of court venues for possible closure.

It includes a list of 41 venues to be considered.

A points system was used to establish the list of courts in order of priority.

An Spidéal was the lowest scoring venue in the country with three points, followed by Cill Rónáin, Ballyconnell and Swanlinbar.

Clonakilty had the highest score of those chosen for possible closure.
