Special opportunity for young musicians

The Irish Memory Youth Orchestra and Choir is inviting young musicians and singers to audition for its new season.

This unique orchestra which blends classical, jazz and traditional music, is the first and only orchestra in the Western world to play exclusively from memory.

Founded by leading composer and performer Dave Flynn in 2012, it has wowed audiences across the globe since then.

Now it’s seeking performers aged 10-24 – full-sighted, blind and visually-impaired – to participate in its next Youth Orchestra & Choir programme, ‘Vision and Memory’.

The selected instrumentalists and singers will then rehearse and perform alongside core members of the Irish Memory Orchestra and professional blind and visually-impaired musicians.

The rehearsals will culminate in a performance of Dave Flynn’s ground-breaking composition, The Vision Symphony, in Galway on Easter Saturday, 2022. This work premiered in Ennis in April 2019.

Its next performance on April 16, will be conducted by Bjorn Bantock and the event will also include the world premiere of a new collaborative work composed by young blind/visually-impaired composers.
