The limited edition ‘Heroes’ jersey which Connacht Rugby launched earlier this year for three West of Ireland charities managed to raise a total of €27,000.

The jersey was the result of a special collaboration between Connacht, its kit manufacturer, BLK; and main sponsors, INTERSPORT Elverys, during the initial Covid-19 lockdown, with 100% of profits distributed evenly to ALONE, Galway Hospice and Mayo/Roscommon Hospice.

The BLK jersey went on sale at elverys.ie on Wednesday May 13 and was completely sold out within eight hours.

It sports a unique design inspired by Superheroes, reminding us that they are not the only ones who wear capes and is our way of saying thank you to all Superheroes fighting every day to better the lives of the most vulnerable in our society.

“Galway Hospice were delighted to be associated with this unique lockdown fundraiser and are very grateful to have been selected as one of the beneficiaries of the funds raised,” said Mary Nash, CEO with Galway Hospice.
