Songwriters to showcase new work at special city concert
Nashville-based music label AfterTouch Music will present its first songwriting showcase gig in Galway City this Saturday, February 22.
It’s the result of a four-day workshop involving 20 songwriters, producers and singers. They will present the new songs that have resulted from this creative collaboration at a show in the Black Gate Cultural Centre on Francis Street. It will start at 8pm this Saturday.
AfterTouch Music recently landed a lucrative distribution deal with Sony Music subsidiary, The Orchard, and signed a sub-label deal with acclaimed singer, songwriter Sonny Emory, formerly with the group, Earth Wind & Fire and also Eric Clapton.
The founder of AfterTouch, Roger Ryan, is a respected pianist and producer whose work has won awards and nominations including Grammys, Junos and Doves. He has also performed and toured with international acts such as Whitney Houston, Faith Hill, Kenny Rogers and the gospel group Take 6.
For this songwriting camp, he wanted to bring his worldwide artist roster together and to attract independent talent to join in the writing fun.
