Sometimes pure voyeurism is more than enough

President of Ireland, Michael D.Higgins has praised the achievements of former Connacht Tribune editor John Cunningham.

The 66 year old Tuam native passed away last night after his battle with illness.

He was appointed editor of the Connacht Tribune from 1984 until 2007, but continued to write for the paper weekly.

He also worked as an editor for the Waterford News and Star, and became a frequent contributor to Galway Bay FM and national media over the years.

He was involved with the Masters in Journalism at NUI Galway for 18 years and in 2006 was conferred with an Honorary MA degree for his contribution to regional and national journalism.

John Cunningham is survived by his wife Nuala and four sons Shane, Gary, Ivor and Enda.
