There could be some hope for residents living in an Oranmore estate who have been campaigning to have a dangerous hole filled in.

Residents of the Oranhill estate claim the hole in the development, which has been left exposed for five years, poses a danger to the public.

Oranmore-based Senator Fidelma Healy Eames has now spoken to the Minister for Housing Jan O’Sullivan who informed her that there is a possibility that the estate could be designated as ‘derelict’.

She says this could mean that funding would be available for repair work.
