SOFTWARE AND MEDICAL DEVICES KEY JOB GROWTH AREAS FOR GALWAY

Galway’s entrepreneurial spirit will be its competitive advantage in attracting inward investment in 2013.

That’s according to Enterprise Ireland CEO Frank Ryan whose comments come following the publication of the group’s end of year statement.

It shows that the Western region managed to sustain over 10 thousand 100 Enterprise Ireland company employees last year.

Although over 700 new jobs were created in the region, the same number of positions were also lost.

Key growth sectors for Galway include software and medical devices.

Nationally, Enterprise Ireland says Irish exporting companies performed well last year – creating nearly 4-thousand new jobs.

The Government agency says this was the highest net gain since 2006.
