Building work on a new national school in Attymon near Athenry will start today.

Local Deputy Noel Treacy turned the sod this morning as the work starts on the new building.

The new national school is being built across the road from the old school and it’s hoped it will be completed by January

The old school was built in 1910 and it was becoming difficult for the small building to facilitate the 35 pupils
