IF YOU happen to spot a black car with the Google logo over the next weeks, smile: your image will soon be eyeballed by billions worldwide for posterity.
The Google Street View team is hitting Ireland and Galway is one of the cities earmarked for the mapping system.
Street View is Google’s online, interactive panoramic street-level photographic mapping system that aims to give an up-close-and-personal look at public streets and their environs.
It is a feature of Google Maps and Google Earth that provides 360° horizontal and 290° vertical panoramic street level views.
The Google car – equipped with GPS and camera equipment – will be out after St
Patrick’s Day, snapping images of Irish streets in a training exercise ahead of its task to map the five major Irish cities: Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick and Waterford.
