SMALL CRANE RESIDENTS INTENSIFY CAMPAIGN AGAINST IMPROVEMENTS
Date Published: 24-Oct-2008
A city community is continuing its fight against plans to give their streets a makeover.
Residents of the Small Crane Area and The West have rejected the latest changes to the city council’s local enhancement scheme.
They’re against the area being pedestrianised and object to new traffic plans which would see them lose 25 parking spaces.
They say they just want minor road and footpath improvements done.
The West Residents Association says if the city council is intent on spending 3.7 million euro on a scheme they don’t want, it should buy the old Connaught Laundry site instead and turn it into a public park.
