Slow take up on free city parking initiative
Galway Bay fm news – City Council wardens are reporting a less than anticipated take-up on the free parking initiative.
Free on street parking is available in the city centre from 10am to 12 pm Monday to Friday for the month of November.
Streets in the scheme include Augustine street, Dominick street, Merchants road, Forster street and Headford road.
The estimated loss to the city council in revenue is in the region of 20 thousand euro.
Director of services for Transport Ciaran Hayes told Galway Talks that people are coming into town, but still at times that are convenient to them.
