Skimming device at Knocknacarra ATM

Bank of Ireland has moved to reassure customers that a skimming device found at an ATM in Knocknacarra was discovered before it claimed any victims.

A female customer uncovered the device at the ATM at Joyces Supermarket at 5.30pm on Wednesday when the port where cards are placed came away from the machine. She immediately alerted the bank and brought the piece to the Garda Station in Salthill.

A warning was issued to customers who had used the machine within the past two days to cancel their bank cards immediately.

Yesterday Bank of Ireland stated there was no cause for alarm for customers who have used the device recently or wished to do so over the coming days.
