SIX GALWAY STUDENTS RELEASED FOLLOWING MAYO PROTEST ARREST

The six Galway third level students arrested following a protest in Castlebar, Co. Mayo have now been released.

Three members of NUI Galway’s Students’ Union and two members of GMIT Students’ Union as well as a first year GMIT student held the protest at Taoiseach Enda Kenny’s consitutency office in Castlebar.

They were demanding a reversal of the 3 per cent reduction in the income thresholds for the maintenance grant announced in Budget 2013.
