Galway bay fm newsroom – There’s been an average 32 percent drop in owners of second homes in Galway who paid the NPPR charge by Sunday’s deadline

In the city the decrease was 31 percent – down from 12,364 last year to 8,476 this year

In the county the drop was 33 percent from 11,017 last year to 7,372 this year

The drop may improve somewhat with late payments

The 200 euro annual charge on second homes is paid directly to local authorities

The payment is being replaced by the property tax – but owners have to pay both this year
