Show recalls glory days of the 1960s

Reeling in the Showband Years has been a sell-out success the country for the past five years, and its creators are now back with Reeling In The 60s It comes to the city’s Town Hall Theatre on Monday, May 12.

Popular RTÉ presenter Ronan Collins will host while performers will include well-known singer, Tony Kenny, who has played the lead in musicals such as Joseph and Jesus Christ Superstar. Also taking part will be Simon Casey, an artist who can sing anything from Gene Pitney to Elvis and more in between.

They will be joined by Karen Black, who will be belting out Tina, Lulu, Connie Francis and many more 60s female stars, and by The Sugar Cubes, led by Eugene McCarthy, a long-time director and arranger of music for RTÉ.

A highlight will be the presence of brothers, Tommy and Jimmy Swarbrigg, who will sing The Everly Brothers, The Bee Gees, Simon and Garfunkel and others who loved to sing harmonies. The show’s finale will be an all-cast salute to the 1960s, when the performers will join forces for a medley of songs from the unique period.
