Show Escapes Worst of Weather

HUGE crowds turned out on Sunday for Gort and District Show and the weather, which elsewhere was continuously wet, did not spoil the overall enjoyment of the Gort event.

In Gort, it was fine but with showers in contrast to Dublin’s downpoors and Midlands monsoons which caused the cancellation of Tullamore Show.

The biggest problem is Gort was that parking spaces were at a premium and, because many exhibitors and spectators had travelled long distances, future shows will have to make provision for accommodating that facet of public interest in this popular event.

Entries were up on previous years; there were over 300 entries in the children’s section and in the home crafts section, with particular attention being given to the new photography class.

The Beautiful Bonny Baby competition was a class apart – they were gorgeous.

The horses and dogs competitions attracted large numbers of spectators.
