Shortage of Galway rental properties putting low-income tenants at risk of homelessness

That’s according to Threshold’s Galway branch which reports that the problem is particularly stark for single people seeking a one-bed apartment.

The housing charity says there are not sufficient properties to rent under the maximum limits for Rent Supplement, as set by the Department of Social Protection.

Galway Services Manager Diarmaid O’Sullivan says homelessness is a real fear for many who cannot find suitable accommodation.
