SHOCK AS GALWAY COUNTY COUNCILLOR TO RESIGN

There’s shock today at the news that Fine Gael County councillor Joe Tierney is to resign from Galway county council.

The Ballinasloe councillor is citing work committments as the reason why he’s stepping down without completing the full term of five years, due to end in summer of next year.

Mr Tierney is not in attendance at today’s council meeting but Galway Bay fm news understands a letter announcing his resignation will be read by the County Secretary at the end of the meeting.
