Sheridan Points The Way

IT MAY not have been impressive and it may not have been as comprehensive as many thought, but Salthill-Knocknacarra did enough to make it through to the quarter-finals of the senior football championship in Tuam Stadium on Saturday evening.

They probably should have won by more but they came up against a rather stubborn Monivea-Abbey side who fought to the bitter end, but lacked the necessary resources up front to make more of an impact.

And they will probably rue some missed chances in the second half which would have made it a much closer contest but Salthill always seemed to have the vital edge.

Even when Monivea-Abbey threatened in the early stagesof the second half, Salthill simply did enough to keep the North Galway side at bay in a less than spectacular encounter.
