Shannon’s summer season
Summer at Shannon has officially kicked in with the airport looking forward to a bumper season again this year – in all the airport will this summer serve 35 destinations across eleven countries as it continues the momentum set last year.
Summer 2015, according to Shannon Group plc Chief Commercial Officer Andrew Murphy, will further highlight the growing demand for inbound and outbound services through Shannon.
“Over the course of the summer we will see a six per cent increase in capacity on US services, with Delta extending its season on JFK New York and American Airlines increasing its capacity by 58 per cent on Philadelphia services,” he said.
Shannon Airport Operations Manager Niall Maloney said that the Wild Atlantic Way project is delivering significantly also.
“The launch last year of the Wild Atlantic Way is a huge boost to the region and we will see its impact grow again this year. It’s a huge additional asset in terms of attracting tourists here and it’s only right that we would have had all our new services in place last year and regained again this year to facilitate this demand.
“Aside from our tourism offering, we are also playing a key role in supporting business in this region and our links with the UK and US are key here in particular,” he said.
