‘Shame’ the Council into action over flooding

A VIDEO posted on YouTube to highlight the city’s growing problem with blocked storm drains has put a dampener on the City Council and their efforts to rectify the problem.

The 50 second clip uploaded last Friday is the latest step by Peter Strange in an ongoing battle between himself, local councillors and TDs. The clip shows traffic travelling along Sean Mulvoy Road in the city, and slowing to a near complete standstill to try and pass through the heavy surface waters caused from three blocked storm drains on the road.

Mr Strange has been campaigning to highlight the problems regarding the drains since 2005 and says he is “fed up” with the lack of progress on the matter. In an email to City Council representatives and TDs, Mr Strange listed off correspondences dating as far back as May 2005 in relation to the same issue. He also gave them the link to the short clip on the Internet for their immediate attention.
