Shadows of Dusk at Galway Cathedral
Delius’s Late Swallows, Dvořák’s Serenade for Strings, Linda Buckley’s Fall Approaches and Arensky’s Variation on a Theme of Tchaikovsky are on the programme for this Sunday night’s concert from the Luminosa String Orchestra, which will take place in Galway Cathedral from 8.30-9.30pm.
It’s the third and final event in the current Arcadia series from the Galway orchestra and is entitled Shadows of Dusk.
Composer Linda Buckley will attend, along with guest conductor Sinead Hayes from Corofin. Sinead is also running a conductor mentoring programme and Luminosa’s co-founder Lucy Hayward says the group is delighted to play a role in nurturing a young and upcoming conductor from the west.
“It has been very difficult for groups to survive during the lockdowns but we have managed to reach our audiences with three livestreams over the past 18 months, which have meant a severe dent in our budget,” says Lucy.
“We are delighted to be able to see out the year with a full audience and look forward to announcing our 2022 programme early next year.
“Luminosa, which is a registered charity, runs a Friends and Patrons scheme which can be found at www.luminosa.ie/donate,” she adds.
Tickets for the performance this Sunday night, November 14, range from €15-€22 and are available at https://www.eventbrite.ie.
