Sex the preserve of cheaters in lockdown
Health, Beauty and Lifestyle with Denise McNamara
So, are you having more sex than ever in lockdown?
If you are so lucky, you are in the minority, according to an academic study from across the water.
The research based on a survey of 565 British adults aged 18–32 collected at the peak of social lockdown restrictions found a general decrease in reported rates of sexual behaviours during social lockdown
Women reported lower levels of sexual desire compared to men, and also reported a significant decrease in sexual desire during lockdown.
“This could be due to increased levels of stress for women as a result of additional domestic labour and may be associated with other symptoms emerging as a result of the pandemic and social restrictions,” the study found.
For participants who continued to engage in sexual activity, over half reported an increase in at least one sexual activity. Increases in sexual activity were based on relationship status.
Participants in serious relationships reported more increases in sexual activity than people who were single or dating casually,
The study by a team of academics mainly from Bournmouth University was published in the Journal of Sex.
It’s a far more energetic picture altogether if you happen to be into adultery.
A much bigger survey involving 2,000 people by Illicitencounters.com – the hook-up website for those who want to cheap on their partners – has predicted a surge in love affairs in the next few months as the vaccination programme starts to take pace.
It found that 74% of people having affairs said they will start sleeping with other people again in the next few months as the crisis eases.
