Severe weather causes travel disruption for Galway island community

Galway Bay fm newsroom – The spell of severe weather this week is wreaking havoc with travel to and from islands off the Galway coast with the worst disruptions taking place today.

Almost all ferry trips to the Aran Islands and to Inishbofin have been cancelled and Aer Arann planes have also been grounded.

Apart from an early morning sailing, ferry services to the Aran Islands are not in operation and a number of people who planned to travel each way are presently stranded.

There has also been no ferry service from Cleggan to Inisbofin today.

Aer services to the Aran Islands are also grounded because of the weather and extra flights are being scheduled for tomorrow.
