SEVERE OVERCROWDING AT UHG EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT
Date Published: 03-Nov-2009
There’s severe overcrowding at Casualty in University Hospital Galway today.
The Irish Nurses Organisation is reporting that 27 people are waiting on trolleys for beds at A & E
A spokesperson for the HSE has confirmed the Emergency Department at UHG was very busy overnight and this morning.
However there is no specific reason for the sudden rise in patient numbers to 27.
Hospital staff and management are now asking patients to attend Casualty only in the event of an emergency.
The HSE is advising patients to seek advice from their own GP first.
Staff are said to be working towards relieving the overcrowding at A & E as quickly as possible.
