SERGEANT SUES STATE OVER ARAN ISLAND TRANSFER DIFFICULTIES

Judgement has been reserved at Dublin Circuit Civil Court in the case of a Garda Sergeant who is suing the Garda Commissioner and the State over expenses involved in his transfer to an Aran Island.

Christopher Joyce (60), who had been living in Ballina, Co. Mayo was transferred to Kilronan sub-district in Inis Mór in 2000.

He told the court this week that “there is a reluctance by islanders to sell property to outsiders”.

Sergeant Joyce is making the claim for more then €32k for difficulties he encountered over his transfer to the Aran Island.
