SENTENCE DUE FOR MAN CONVICTED OF RAPING DAUGHTER IN GALWAY AND ROSCOMMON

A 71-year-old former professional soccer player – described as a ‘monster’ – is to be sentenced today for repeatedly raping his daughter at locations in Galway and Roscommon

The man – who can’t be named – was convicted by a Central Criminal Court jury last March on 60 counts of sexual abuse and 14 charges of rape between 2002 and 2006.

The now 18 year old victim was sexually abused on an almost daily basis over a four year period at locations in Galway and Roscommon.

It started when she was 9 years of age.
