THE senior hurling championship is about to go full throttle following a four-week gap from the group stages with double headers in Athenry and Ballinasloe this weekend.

Tommy Larkins against Clarinbridge is a repeat of last year, St. Thomas’ only edged Cappataggle by one point in their last meeting, Sarsfields and Portumna can turn back the clock to the 2000s, while Loughrea and Turloughmore have the potential to steal the show.

The four winners won’t have much time to settle as the semi-finals have been fixed for Sunday, November 6. The final is two weeks later.

But after taking time since proceedings got underway back in July, the final eight are now ready for the most important month of their year.
